Good news for procurement and product manufacturers in the security industries.

Successful trial and launch of the new PSSA Verification Scheme module Year-long trials with leading suppliers of high security products and installation services of the new PSSA (Perimeter Security Suppliers Association) Verification Scheme module for Installation Services have proven the value and importance of this part of the Scheme which launches at Transec this year.  For product manufacturers as well as procurement buyers, this news is a welcome and timely announcement.

With current security worries, the PSSA Scheme is there to help companies of all sizes ensure not only their workforce is protected, but their clients, their installations and the resultant security outcomes are assured. It also has the potential to make a meaningful contribution to national security.” Steve Munden, PSSA Verification Scheme Manager.

So what is the PSSA Verification Scheme and who needs it?

Suppliers of high security products or installation services, will benefit from ensuring they meet the requirements of the PSSA Verification Scheme which will inevitably open up the market as a preferred supplier.

I would like to see other companies in our marketplace sign up to it, to put us all on a level playing field.” Terry Jones, Sales and SHEQ Director, Allens Total Perimeter Security, sponsor of ‘World of Perimeter Security’ at Transec. “Unlike some other accreditation schemes, the PSSA scheme does have meaning. We will be using it as part of our marketing, demonstrating our abilities. Achieving verification is a reward to our people too. Having an accredited quality system, regularly audited, means we have minimum standard we are always working to.”

The new PSSA Verification Scheme module is an important tool for anyone responsible for protecting businesses or critical national infrastructure from hazards, threats, risks or loss and their potential impacts. The Scheme ensures that products and installation services have been independently examined for security, operational and safety aspects.  Having a PSSA certificate is testimony that companies are capable of consistently meeting customer and legal requirements as part of their overall business management systems and processes. For suppliers this means independent assurance of their compliance and continuous improvement of performance.

But the main benefit is for those responsible for ensuring that CNI or high value sites are protected. For the first time a recognised Scheme is available that independently assures that appropriate products are deployed which are installed correctly and designed to meet specific Operational Requirements.

How is it assessed?

A simple four step process which assesses installation has proven to be a very effective way of ensuring products, installation & security outcomes are safe and assured. It is not a pass or fail event but a pathway to improving perimeter security by providing and installing high quality products

The PSSA Verification Scheme process was useful and constructive, I would recommend it to other contractors who want to raise the bar on their own business and set themselves apart.” Maurice Hickman, Sales and Marketing Director, J B Corrie & Co Ltd
