£1million secured investment for growth

Along with the £1million investment secured for growth, Pixelrights have appointed three industry leaders* on their Board in the form of Christina Vaughan, founder of Image Source and former Vice President of PACA and former President of CEPIC as new Chairman, James Rutherford CIO of Hermes SourceCap and Bill Flind CEO of Ipsotek as Non-executive directors.

They have now expanded their in-house team to 17, moved to Farringdon, and set up offices for their technology development in Poland.

They have also expanded across the web into new platforms, licensing their image technology to major players from image libraries to digital asset management companies such as Sodatech, Capture, MEMAT, Xpertise and Image Protect, who are now integrating the technology into their platforms and extending it to their clients.

Pixelrights are also working with associations and brands from the RPS to Metro and Fujifilm with joint promotions with all the major camera retailers from WEX and Calumet to John Lewis and London Camera Exchange.

Photographers can now sell prints as a self-fulfil option or select a print partner, they have more designs to choose from to build their sites and they have the opportunity to learn from industry leaders from articles on their new newsletter and blog, plus photographers can connect on social media with their members’ community.

Pixelrights websites will also be further enhanced this year as the service grows from strength to strength. It will be under-going some significant feature-based enhancements that will bring it to the top of its game.

“We are confident that Pixelrights in the coming months will become the most compelling option for anyone looking to build a website,” said Shaun Curry, founder of Pixelrights. “We want to show that our roots are in photography and that we understand this better than any other platform. Also providing the very latest technology to help photographers gain more from using the internet to promote their work. You only have to read our reviews on Google to understand what we mean to the photographic community.”

Pixelrights are pleased to announce they were invited to the DMLA conference in New York and the ACE Picture Library conference in London to present their new .PXLR image format, which uses their revolutionary SmartFrame technology. Recently featured by Alamy, their SmartFrame innovation is taking the image industry by storm offering substantially more protection than the standard jpg format online.

All images on the Pixelrights platform are protected by SmartFrame which reduces image theft and ensures attribution wherever they are shared.

Pixelrights have significant new features in development for the Smart Frame technology which will allow it to be shared on any website outside of our own platform framework,” continued Shaun. “To add to these exciting new developments we have decided to introduce our WordPress plugin, that will provide free use of the Smart Frame to around 70 million WordPress based websites. This is implemented or redacted at the flick of a switch, it is incredibly powerful and simple to use.”

Blank Wall Gallery, 12 Yakinthou Street Kipseli tel. 694.3868.124  http://www.blankwallgallery.com   Curator: Markos Dolopikos

Exhibition Duration: From 16 October until 30 October 2015

The gallery says: “Blank Wall Gallery will host landscapes taken by international photographers from around the world. Color and black and white landscapes draw the viewer’s attention and do not leave anyone indifferent, since through them the greatness of nature and the contradictions that make up this planet are displayed.  The photographers have their own style and their own techniques each, to present the theme, but the ultimate feeling that the photographs leave us with is one. Admiration and awe for the beauty found in nature and a sense that people are very small in front of it, even though we tend to forget it. The power of nature is what captivates and enchants the viewer. Even in photographs where the human presence is evident, the style of photography is ultimately influenced by the landscape and not by the human intervention on it.”

A Change in the Air – photography exhibition October

A Change in the Air, documenting the Bahima people in Uganda, photography by Vanessa Champion, exhibition at Calumet, Drummond Street, supporting 25 years of international NGO, PENHA.

Two week long exhibition of photographs taken by our director and photojournalist Vanessa Champion on location with the Pastoralist and Environmental Network in the Horn of Africa (PENHA) in Uganda, which kicks off their year-long cultural and academic festival celebrating 25 Years of essential work in Uganda, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya and Djibouti.

Generously supported by Fujifilm UK who is printing the whole exhibition on their Photo Pearl Board and kindly hosted by Calumet in their flagship store in Drummond Street, London.

It was an amazing experience to work with these gentle people whose laughter is infectious and kindness completely effervescent!” said Vanessa.  “We left in October 2013, and on expedition with the team in Uganda I discovered that there are rising economic and personal challenges for those nomadic herders whose traditions and heritage is now threatened by a more sedentary life being urged upon them from the government which is recommending that they make a seismic change to their culture and settle into a more agro-pastoralist way of life. While this is of good intention, it means that there has to be a challenging shift in how Pastoralists live their lives. PENHA runs educational programmes to support this change, offering practical provision to increase revenue, training, as well as lobbying at legislative level to ensure the pastoralists’ views and heritage are included in the debate for land rights.”

The photographs document this change and the adaptability of these people as the advance of modernity and the necessity for these gentle people to keep up with the environmental, social and economic revolution.

There will also be a cultural display from PENHA, showcasing their art, textiles, craftwork and jewellery, plus the chance to learn more about the region and the work that PENHA does.

Supported by Calumet, Fujifilm and EIZO

Prints sold raise valuable funds for PhotoAid and PENHA’s work in the Horn, supporting nomadic groups, education programmes for women and children as well as training the families support themselves with new skills. PENHA is a valuable and trusted voice for the Horn of Africa nomadic people internationally
